January Real Estate Market Update 2023

Welcome to 2023 – it feels as though we’ve travelled back in time. A time when Alberta is leading again. Surplus payments, net migration, stable housing prices, and so much more.  All of that plus a lot of warm weather and blue skies to be thankful for.

A lot happened in 2022 and although we don’t know exactly what will happen in 2023 when it comes to real estate in Calgary, we are anticipating a very strong and stable market.

Currently, with less than two months of supply, buyers have limited options and they need to be very smart about what they get and why.

Peak pricing happened in May and since then there’s been a pullback.  It was expected with the increasing interest rates and this has also led to a slowdown in new listings coming to market.  We are in a balanced market territory which is ideal for buyers and sellers in the months ahead – if you have the right plan in place. We are here to help with the planning!

Sellers have a great window of opportunity with a whole lot less competition. Buyers have fewer options but there is still a lot available if you know where to look.

Put all of that together with the right strategy, experience, and perspective and it will be a good year for Alberta real estate.
